Coffee at.... Aldert Hiemstra nature biologist - De Westereen (NL)

A chilly Wednesday afternoon at the end of the moulting period. An excellent reason to pack a number of pigeons, take manure samples with you and go for the annual check-up to Aldert Hiemstra in the north-east of the province. Coffee on the table, microscope at the ready and as Frisians talk among themselves, it quickly turns to cows, horses, bio filters and of course our winged wonders.
 
Many already knew their way to the Westeren. Especially in our own Friese Wouden, top lofts are guided by Aldert, and top performances were not forthcoming. Bearing in mind that that region has a huge population density when it comes to pigeon fanciers, with many nationally known top lofts.
 
Through decades of research, testing and comparing outcomes, a number of products have been developed to improve and support health with the power of nature. Natural scavengers have been discovered in the plant world, which can be used to combat unwanted disease carriers.
 
While antibiotics in many cases hunt down all bacteria, these products specifically activate good bacteria to get to work, or antioxidants attack the cell nuclei of disease carriers and make them inactive.
